Flying Lotus :: Putty Boy Strut

You may have already seen this on a bajillion sites already (since it was posted yesterday), but I’d like to post it here for posterity, and to share it with those of you who aren’t connected to the ‘net 24/7.

Make sure to open up your third eye for this one, and prepare to wear out the ‘Replay’ button.

FlyLo’s newest album drops October 2, and can be pre-ordered here.

Mo Kolours :: Banana Wine

A very hypnotizing experimental tune accompanied by quite hypnotic found footage. I couldn’t explain any more than that if I tried, suffice to say that you should definitely watch this (perhaps while enjoying the first bong rip of the morning). However, if you really must know more, let’s turn to OkayAfrica.com

Mauritian experimental producer Mo Kolours drops a grainy, found-footage video for “Banana Wine”. The spliced vintage visuals span 1920s-50s scenes of ballroom dances, clips of “tribal natives”, and an aptly chosen images of Carmen Miranda — the famed Brazilian samba singer that was pinholed as a banana queen by 30s American media.

Actually quite informative. But I think they meant “pigeonholed”. Anyway, Thanks OkayAfrica for the original post!

Mexicans With Guns :: The Legend of Zelda (MWG’s Nintendro Remix)

Last night Mexicans With Guns dropped this saucy cumbia-flavored THROWBACK. Big ups to Mexicans With Guns for showing love to Legend of Zelda, and to the tunes that have inspired me for as long as I can remember.

DOWNLOAD: http://db.tt/JsxYIynO (NOTE: After the track’s Soundcloud download limit was reached, this link was provided personally by Ernest Gonzales aka Mexicans With Guns, to his personal friends and to Facebook “Fans” of Mexicans With Guns. I can not guarantee that the link will stay up for any significant amount of time, therefore I highly recommend that you download this track immediately and share it with your friends.)

Flatbush Zombies :: S.C.O.S.A. (Snorting Cocaine Off a Stripper’s Ass)

Get stupid to this shit.

Slugabed :: Sex (Daedelus Remix)

Get your “Sex” on with up-and-comer Slugabed and the ubiquitous Daedelus. Hot stuff for high-flying lovers.

Thanks to Dipped in Dollars for the find.

Rustie :: Surph ft Nightwave

Check this re-work of Rustie’s ‘Surph’ with new vocal work by up-and-comer Nightwave. Hot shit.

Dirtybird Beats :: Big Sur

Check this tune by Dirtybird Beats. What starts off as a gloomy orchestra of dying electronics quickly unfolds into a head-nodding hypnotic instrumental.

Also, Dirtybird has a free LP available for download at his Bandcamp.

The Hood Internet :: Shadow Cruising (Alan Wilkis x White Hinterland x Lyrics Born x Jib Kidder)

Straight up laid-back mash-up courtesy of The Hood Internet. I’m not familiar with the source material so I can’t comment, but this mix works like a charm. Zone out.

I Monster :: Daydream in Blue

This song is pretty much a classic for throwing on repeat and getting your head right. I had no idea that the accompanying music video was so twisted as well, definitely something to throw on when you’re faded. Too bad the video is an MTV-rip, but we have to make due sometimes. Enjoy!

Ernest Gonzales :: The Scattered Thoughts of Raindrops

San Antonio’s Ernest Gonzalez, perhaps more familiar as Mexicans With Guns, has premiered a wildly colorful new video for “The Scattered Thoughts of Raindrops”, a laid-back cut off his new release Natural Traits. Get lost in the tune and the amazing CGI visuals provided by The Great Nordic Sword Fights.

NastyNasty :: Acid Hangover

NastyNasty just dropped this funky heavy beat on us a couple days ago. Now I’ve been following NastyNasty for a little while and he makes some pretty weird experimental electronic tracks, but this is kind of an odd one for him. He mostly loses the wub-centric “dub” sound he has adapted in favor of a grimy pitch-shifting bassline that is the soul of the track.

Perhaps the explanation for the weirdness lies somewhere in this barely-comprehensible description that the artist gives us for the track: “last christmas i took acid and rode a cruiser bike through an abandoned san jose. I wrote this the next morning”. Quite intriguing, NastyNasty. As always I’m on the lookout for his next sonic experiment, and actually I’d be quite happy with tracks more similar to this than some of his other output.

He’s only beginning to get his due recognition, and I believe he still has many tricks up his sleeve. On Facebook he mentioned that he picked up a lot of new ideas while in Europe last year, so we can expect him to keep it fresh through 2012. Nerves Junior :: Swimmer’s Ear

Nerves Junior lays down a quite thick experimental track that I suppose I might classify as shoegaze with a drum machine. It’s easy to get lost in this hazy track, heavy but spacey like swimming in a thick syrup.

The video is worth a watch, too, with some kind of key-swallowing hand-switchy narrative that I couldn’t quite keep track of… You’ll see. Definitely worth a listen if you are looking for some chill alternative music of the “rock” persuasion, and you can find more at their Bandcamp page.

Goth-Trad :: Air Breaker

This goes a little bit harder than the chill stuff I usually post here, but people chill to the oddest stuff. I have a friend that swears Skrillex is “smoking music” and has no idea people dance to that stuff… Anyway. I’m not one for genres but if you like heavy hypnotic EDM (electronic dance music) then this might be right up your alley.

The video is an effect-laden hyper-surreal treat for the eyes. Definitely not recommended for epileptics or those already suffering from psychotic visions. Otherwise, get lost in this hypnotic tune.
